About

For many years, it’s been a dream of mine to put God’s word in a form that would be easily listenable…even for those of us who are too busy to take time. The fact is: we hear things much differently than we read them or watch them. And, because I believe that God’s word is powerful, I also believe that it’s one of his most significant gifts to us and his desire is for us to learn it, study it and teach it. This is one way to make it easier for us to get familiar with it.

Years ago, I wrote a song based on Psalm 119:111: “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” It chose to use the title of that song for the name of this site.

The version of the Bible used on this site is called the World English Bible. It is an update of the American Standard Version of 1901. It was selected for use on this site because it is in the Public Domain, which sets it apart from all other modern English versions of which I’m aware…and therefore was available for my use at no charge. You can find more information about the World English Bible, including an online text version, at the publisher’s site.

ABOUT GOD’S WORD

Here are some verses about the importance of God’s word in the lives of Christians:

“At this, many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. Jesus said therefore to the twelve, “You don’t also want to go away, do you?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (John 6:66-69)

“For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

“From infancy, you have known the sacred writings which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith, which is in Christ Jesus. Every writing inspired by God is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction which is in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (II Timothy 3:15-17)
